Successfully completed first phase of testing, neighBORROW will perfect the concept of saving money and the environment via existing neighBORROW-hoods, before launch. Continues search for “Mayors” to help with the pBETA New york, NY (Syndacast) Nov 19, 2008 -- neighBORROW, a free, web-based platform connecting neighbors who are looking to save money and the environment, has finished the initial phase of building the platform and testing the system.“We are pleased to have finished the site and built a small community of neighBORROW-ers and their inventory of neighBORROW-goods so far; now we are excited to perfect the concept before we launch” The site is now testing the actual neighBORROW-hoods in anticipation of the launch, planned for early 2009. neighBORROW-hoods are groups of people in any community, on any campus, or at any company who are looking for a convenient way to save some money and reduce their negative impact on the environment. "We are pleased to have finished the site and built a small community of neighBORROW-ers and their inventory of neighBORROW-goods so far; now we are excited to perfect the concept before we launch", said neighBORROW founder Adam Berk. neighBORROW enables members to save time, money, and the environment by pooling resources in a concentrated area, reducing the need for ‘unnecessary’ purchases. It allows people to keep a common inventory of things owned among their network and to check things in and out, like one would at a library. “neighBORROW is a resourceful model that allows members to get more out of items they own and spend less for items they want, all while reducing the negative environmental impact of inefficient consumption. Listing and lending opens the door to free borrowing and responsible borrowing keeps the door open," says neighBORROW Chief Technology Officer, Phuc Quang. neighBORROW relies, in part, on “Mayors” to populate the website with both new members and inventory for their neighBORROW-hood. “Any member who is willing to list some "seed inventory" can create a private or public neighBORROW-hood on the site. These Mayors will be rewarded for their feedback and contributions to the site during pBETA,” adds Berk. One way neighBORROW is rewarding select Mayors is by sharing the local advertising revenue generated by their neighBORROW-hood. There are also contests for the groups and people whose efforts result in the most savings. About neighBORROW: neighBORROW is a "green" web-based start-up that facilitates the borrowing and lending things among neighbors or other groups. neighBORROW combines the traditional notion of borrowing a cup of sugar from a neighbor with modern technology, using the Internet to facilitate borrowing and lending of nearly anything among people in local networks. The website, currently in pBETA, uses accountability metrics such as deposits, user reputations and borrowing history and customizable privacy settings to help ensure the safety of its members’ property. Users have the flexibility to decide what and with whom they are willing to share by participating in private and public networks. These “neighBORROW-hoods,” have been created in apartment buildings, dormitories, offices, and other natural localities, and have been used to pool and catalog extensive online inventories of CDs, DVDs, video games, books, tools, sporting equipment, baby items and many other durable goods. ### Bookmark - Del.icio.us | Digg | Furl It | Spurl | RawSugar | Simpy | Shadows | Blink It | My Web Other Releases by this Member
